SmartType is a software-only karyotyping application and is compatible with any microscope and camera capable of producing images of metaphases saved in TIFF, JPEG or PNG format.

The SmartType application can be purchased or leased for a short-term period. Short-term leasing can be particularly cost-effective for research where there may already exist the equipment to capture metaphase images and the projects have a limited lifespan.
